Update - Day 2!
It's day 2 since the Naturists UK news appeared in H&E Naturist (January,
2007) and reached many subscribers yesterday - only a week earlier than
expected, and a week before our new site is expected to start taking shape! So
this is just a quick update for all those excited to read the news in H&E
and on the various naturist fora.
This is being written ‘on the fly' so forgive me if it's a bit rushed! We
already have to start thinking of an ‘update' news item for next month's
H&E, and an introductory article for Naturist Life! The ‘press' are always very
eager for any news and we'll be making sure we keep them informed and doing a
full press release out to the national media in January to coincide with our
launch.
Well, what can I say? The response has been very
encouraging. We already have our first member who joined over the phone yesterday and
has sent his cheque - it's expected today! He said, "I am 58 and
have been a naturist for over 25 years, enjoyed visiting many sun clubs with my
wife and children, and now on my own as a single. I am a member of the Naturist
Foundation, SOC, Suntreckers, subscribe to Naturist Life, but have never been a
member of BN. I like your ideas. We're on the same wavelength!" Well, you can't
get a better commendation than that.
He also said there's too much politics in BN - he reads the magazine
occasionally at the club - and finds some clubs a bit "stuffy". Perhaps together
we can change that, with a ‘breath of fresh air' and a new approach; with new
people working together through a new and dynamic organisation. He's not on the
web so has requested that we send out an occasional newsletter, but as a
subscriber to H&E Naturist and Naturist Life, he'll get to hear all the
news. We are listening, and will send a newsletter to all those
not on the web.
Of course newsletters cost money - on top of the time and expense to plan
and organise events - so we'll need lots of members to join now, in the run up
to launch day so we hit the ground running. Our first purchase will be a colour
laser printer, a sound investment at only £300 - they used to cost thousands -
as it's important to present a professional image to our members, and
prospective members.
Response to the launch of our temporary discussion forum naturists-uk@yahoogroups.com
is also very encouraging - with over 40 people signing up in the first 24 hours, the
membership now stands at 75 and it was only announced on 29th November!
Let's hope they all become paid-up members. It was also encouraging to
see so many supportive messages posted, and some interesting definitions of ‘naturism'.
We're not disappointed at the lack of proposed
content as people are either being patient, and allowing us time to get on with the job and
commenting when something appears - we've already had
positive feedback via direct email on the published draft press
release (an earlier version is in the 'files' section and now it's published
here) - or are simply happy to let us do the work while they pay their subs and
enjoy! Isn't that what most members want from orgnisations and clubs?
To pay a reasonable annual membership charge and just enjoy! Not having to work!?
But of course, an organisation cannot function without a dedicated team of
people and we're happy that we have that support and it's growing.
More soon as our policy is to keep you informed of developments. Details of
the pre-launch membership offer will appear here later today.
Don't forget that we welcome feedback via the
Yahoo! group, direct email admin@naturists-uk.org, the ‘Contact
Us' form or by telephone on 01954 212502 - we're always happy to speak to
people, hear their views and answer any questions! We also plan to hold more
informal ‘open meetings' in London!
