Naturists-UK
June Update -
Welcome to the all new Naturists UK

UPDATED 16th June 2007: Thanks for you continued patience! The site is still under construction as our chief web coder is doing his A levels! Many more features are planned and should be rolled out in July - sorry for the delay but good things are always worth waiting for! We'll bring you lots more news in the coming months.

Much has been happening in the meantime with many working behind the scenes in the various organisations to make Britain a better clothes-optional place to live. We are especially delighted to support a Cambridge WNBR as announced here today!

We don't recommend you register just yet - we want to be fully ready to provide a first rate service - but hope from July to announce full functionality...  Keep looking in for more news - see below! Wink

To see what's new just look at the 'Latest News' and 'What's New?' link lists - below right - and to see an overview of the site click: Site Map  and 'Expand'. Our Search facility with highlighted matches, makes finding info on a particular topic a doddle. Much much more coming soon...!

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR LATEST UPDATES!

H&E Naturist subscribers receiving their February 2007 copy this week - I got mine today - will be reading the latest news Naturists UK hits the ground running

Naturists UK hits the ground running

Within hours of our report on the new national organisation Naturists UK appearing in last month’s issue, members were signing up well before the official launch date.

Annual membership fees have been set at £20 for individuals, £33.50 for joint, and £40 for families, with concessions available for young people and single-parent families. With similarly low fees for swim clubs and walking groups set at £20, and sited clubs paying just £40, a number of clubs have also expressed an interest in joining the new organisation. A particular attraction of group membership is that Naturists UK is offering to host a full web page of both text and images for each club. Entries will be under the control of the clubs themselves, and as well as promoting facilities, will enable them to announce events, and provide a contact point for members. The one-off web site set-up fee (equivalent to the annual rate) is being waived until the end of February.

Naturists UK is also determined to promote the naturist life-style to the public at large.  As just one of a series of initiatives designed to raise awareness, the new organisation is planning a promotional presence at an event that always attracts wide media coverage - the world-famous Glastonbury Festival in June. For more information: www.naturists-uk.org or call Richard Collins on 01954 212502.

And they're still signing up...

With so much happening and to do over the past couple of weeks - interest in our plans, what our members would like to see, benefits including insurance for clubs, carrying advertising, INF membership/affiliation - there's not been time to write it all up and report, but much is now becoming ready for publication over the next few days here, on our brand new website which is officially launched today for 'beta testers' and you to have a sneak preview!

The software AutositePHP which makes our site work is all new and is being developed specifically for our needs. It is still under development, and will be for weeks and months to come, while we discover what else we can offer. Content is all new or republished/updated from our previous temporary site, so please bare with us while we iron out any bugs we find, develop the best ways to present information consistently, and build our archive of useful resources. Our archive will contain much proprietary information, some of which has not been published before and some which is no longer available elsewhere.

Later today, and over the coming days and weeks, you will see it develop and move to our official domain http://naturists-uk.org

And with over 50 members signed up by 7th January - the end of our pre-launch offer - our first 'member club' joined and more taking an interest today, our public launch is still on target before January end. Watch this space!

Brief Updates:

Tuesday 23rd January

As you can see, Naturists UK is now in its new official home at http://naturists-uk.org

Please check back regularly for updates and new content. Much has been generated over the past couple of months and will appear as soon as possible. We will try to bring time sensitive information first and share with you items appearing in the naturists press the day they appear.

For completeness, and anyone visiting Naturists UK for the first time, all our earlier ‘updates' posted in various fora have been/are being transferred here. They're worth a look, even if you've read them before, as they contain much detail about what we have planned and using the Search you can focus on key words like ‘event(s)', ‘beach(es)', ‘walk(s)', etc. When searching, you can enter an ‘*' - a ‘wild card' - like this "beach*" and the search will return: beach and beaches. Try it.

N.B. Currently there is a bug with the 'Live Search' and wild card searches are not highlighted. These should both be fixed soon.

Have fun!

Thursday 25th January

We are currently negotiating a special deal with a leading insurance broker specialising in landed naturist and swim club insurance. Provisional rates for Swim Club Public Liability Insurance - £2 million cover - is just £145 pa. With Naturists UK club membership at only £20 for a whole year, that's a combined total of £165. A similar policy from BN would cost £150 plus £50 annual BN membership plus around £35 regional levy (based on 35p per head) for a club with 100 members - over £70 more! And with Naturists UK, clubs get a full 'web presence' included.

If the insurance scheme interests you, please call now on 01954 212502 as we need to find 6 clubs to meet the minimum policy start up fee of £750. More details to follow soon...

Thursday 1st February

Today Shabden members will be receiving their copy of Naturist Life magazine. Now full colour throughout, with even more news and pages of interest for naturists, and announcing Shabden's 20th Birthday Celebration this month, it includes an article about our new organisation. You can see the complete article here:  Naturist Life: Naturists UK - A new beginning... but why not take out a subscription to Naturist Life yourself? At only £20, minimum annual subscription - additional contributions are always welcome - it's excellent value! And combined with Naturists UK membership, you'll be well informed!

There's been more developments this week, with more members joining daily, and news to report on more clubs taking an interest in joining and advertising with us. Tuesday we were contacted by a holiday company who are keen to work with us and provide even more benefits for our members!  They'll be a  full news update once we are able to give details.

With all the interest we've been generating and the various leads to pursue, our expected 'official' launch and press release to the media has been put off a few days while we get more content on to the site and iron out the last few bugs - there's always teething troubles with any new system and these have delayed us publishing more news and content but more will start to appear soon.

Monday 19th February

Time certainly flies when you're having fun!

Developments are gaining pace with even more great news appearing in H&E about our first member club Soleil signing up - we hope to bring an exclusive report of their newest venue 'Aquasplash' at Hemel Hempstead - and we've just finalised details of swim club insurance - we just need to have the wording agreed with the brokers before publication, so please check back in a couple of days for that.

You'll see we've added a 'Latest News' finder (top right), which lists (in reverse date order) the top 5 stories from our news section, and our 'What's new?' now reports the 5 newest items from elsewhere on Naturists UK. These will shortly be extended to provide 'Prev | Next' options to find more new content quickly and add the many new features that are being worked on. We'll then be in a position to publish 'Your Letters' - we've had an encouraging postbag - and start to build our databases of clubs, beaches and events. If you have any suggestions, ideas or want to write an article of interest to UK naturists for publication, please get in touch.

We're still busy arranging deals behind the scenes and there's a lot more to come very soon once we've finalised a few more things - not long to wait now. 2007 certainly promises to be an exciting year for naturists!

Richard Collins
